A Marion County sheriff’s deputy was called to a Summerfield discount store on Tuesday afternoon after a thief tried to make off with a variety of hygiene products.
The manager of the Dollar General, located at 15090 S U.S. Hwy. 27/441, told the deputy that security alarms had gone off when a white female who had been shopping tried to leave the store. She said she confronted the woman, who quickly began to apologize, a sheriff’s office report states.
The manager said she asked if the woman if she had anything hidden in person and requested to retrieve any such items. She said the woman continued to say she was sorry and emptied out the miscellaneous hygiene products she had attempted to steal, the report says, adding that the bandit then fled the store in a vehicle that was parked outside the building.
