Sumter County sheriff’s deputies are on the lookout for a couple accused of stealing a woman’s purse at Wal-Mart in The Villages.
The victim reported that on Sept. 9 while visiting the store, located at 4085 Wedgewood Lane, she forgot her purse in a shopping cart in the parking lot. She said she returned a few minutes later and the handbag had been stolen, a sheriff’s office report states.
A review of video surveillance showed that a white male – with what appears to be several tattoos on his arms and chest – and a white female had entered an SUV parked next to the victim’s vehicle. The male is seen taking the purse from the cart and the couple then leaves Walmart in the SUV, which was possibly a Hyundai.
Photos of the couple, shown above, were taken inside Wal-Mart just prior to the theft. They didn’t make a purchase and were only in the store for about five minutes, the report says.
Anyone with information about the crime or the identity of the suspects is asked to call Detective DeArmond at (352) 793-2621 or Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477) and reference case number 4583.
