AAC continues to seek Villagers’ input on proposed recreation center

The Amenity Authority Committee will review updated plans for the First Responders Recreation Center to be located at the former home of the First Baptist Church of The Villages.

Last week, about 100 residents attended a meeting at Savannah Center regarding the new recreation center which will be located in Community Development District 4 in the Marion County section of The Villages.

The AAC will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9 at Savannah Center. It will be an opportunity for residents to provide additional input on the planned recreation center.

The 19-acre site was acquired last year for about $2 million from the First Baptist Church. The new recreation center could cost as much as $6.5 million. The recreation center will be more than 9,000 square feet.
