The controversial eldest son of President Trump is coming to The Villages.
Donald Trump Jr., who currently is running his father’s company, The Trump Organization, alongside his younger brother, Eric, and has been tied to collusion claims made by high-powered Democrats because he met with a Russian lawyer who supposedly had damaging information about Hillary Clinton, will be at Barnes & Noble in Lake Sumter Landing on Friday, Nov. 8 at 3 p.m. He will sign copies of his new book, “Triggered: How the Left Thrives on Hate and Wants to Silence Us.”
The cost to attend the event in The Villages is $32.10. For tickets visit bit.ly/2MFVt5h
Trump Jr.’s visit to The Villages will be his third stop on a book tour that will take him across the country. The book is being released Nov. 5 and his first stop will come two days later in Birmingham, Ala. He’ll then signs books in Miramar Beach on the morning of Nov. 8 before making his stop in The Villages.
The younger Trump’s visit to Florida’s Friendliest Hometown will come a little more than a month after his father made a stop in the community. During that Oct. 3 appearance at the Sharon L. Morse Performing Arts Center, the president signed an executive order to protect Medicare while also labeling Democrats as “maniacs.”
Trump Jr.’s book promises to expose “all the tricks” used by the left to smear conservatives, from online “shadow banning” to fake accusations of “hate speech.”
“No topic is spared from political correctness,” the book’s promo material promises. “This is the book that the leftist elites don’t want you to read!”
While Villagers will no doubt be excited about Trump Jr.’s visit to the community, they should be aware that his book-signing event will be handled in a much different way than those they’ve come accustomed to attending when other high-profile authors have visited The Villages.
For instance, this is the only time that an entry fee has been required. That ticket will get you into Barnes & Noble and includes a copy of the book.
Those without tickets won’t be admitted to the event, which is being billed as a “signing only.” That means there will be no personalization of books and no memorabilia or any other books will be signed. Photographs will be allowed from the signing line only and there will be no posed pictures.
Trump Jr., who once served as a boardroom judge on his father’s television show, “The Apprentice,” has been politically active and played a major role in the president’s campaign. He is dating former Fox News personality and political analyst Kimberly Ann Guilfoyle and based on his success in campaigning for Republicans in the 2018 midterm elections, he is considered to have a future as a politician if he decides to run for office.
Trump Jr. created a bit of controversy in The Villages in July 2018, though he probably didn’t know it. At the time, gubernatorial hopeful Ron DeSantis – who carried an endorsement from President Trump – turned down an invitation from The Villages Republican Club to debate rival GOP candidate Adam Putnam and instead offered to bring Trump Jr. to the community. DeSantis’s campaign manager claims the club turned down the offer, though the group’s leadership says that’s simply not true.
Instead, the campaign event took place in Orlando at B.B. King’s Blues Club on International Drive and Villagers were offered free bus transportation to the event.
A group of Villagers also got to see Trump Jr. when the president kicked off his re-election campaign in June at the Amway Center. He was lauded following the event for his explosive speech that clearly fired up the capacity crowd at the massive arena.
