A Villager has resigned from a powerful governing body in The Villages.
Arthur Rowe of the Village of Briar Meadow has resigned as a supervisor on the Village Center Community Development District Board. He was appointed to the board in 2013.
Rowe indicated in a resignation letter, that was cc’d to Villages Vice President of Community Relations Gary Lester, that he is stepping down due to “health reasons.”

In his resignation letter, Rowe indicated he would like to see Villager Doug Tharp take over his supervisor’s seat. Tharp is a former president of The Villages Homeowners Association.
At the time of Rowe’s appointment in 2013, it was discussed as to whether it was appropriate for an outgoing supervisor to choose who his successor would be on the board.
Among the services provided by the VCCDD to residential properties within The Villages are security, fire and emergency medical first response (non-transport) services, recreational facilities and services, water retention areas, and executive golf. These services are paid for through the receipt of monthly contractual amenity fees, a fee for service, paid by each residential property within the service area of the District, as described by the Declaration of Covenants and Restrictions applying to each residential property.
