Villagers for Veterans is gearing up for a special four-day Military Film Fest at Lake Sumter Landing.

The event, which will be held at the Old Mill Playhouse in cooperation with Vet Flicks, kicks off Wednesday, Nov. 6 and runs through Sunday, Nov. 10.
Those wishing to attend the inaugural Film Fest can purchase single tickets at regular prices, three movies of their choice for $25 or unlimited tickets for $50.

The Villagers for Veterans Military Film Fest will kick off on Wednesday, Nov. 6 with a special showing of ‘Midway,” starring Woody Harrelson, Patrick Wilson, Luke Evans and Mandy Moore. The event will conclude on Sunday, Nov. 10 with a showing of ‘The Bay House.’

One hundred VIP tickets also are available for $100 apiece. Those purchasing the VIP package will receive an unlimited ticket, a swag bag, entry into an opening night cocktail party, a meet-and-greet event and a closing night event.
The schedule of events for the Film Fest will be:

OPENING NIGHT – WEDNESDAY, NOV. 6

  • A Red-Carpet premiere of “Midway,” which stars Woody Harrelson, Patrick Wilson, Luke Evans and Mandy Moore. The film is a remake of the 1976 World War II movie that starred Charlton Heston, Henry Fonda, James Colburn, Glenn Ford and Hal Holbrook.
  • Military vehicles on the square for photo opportunities and question-and-answer sessions.
  • Military booths in the theater’s lobby.
  • Posting of the colors.
  • A BBQ to go along with the showing of “Midway” (must get a ticket by sending an email to Villagers for Veterans Founder and President Marie Bogdonoff at [email protected]).
  • A cocktail party, meet-and-greet event and private screening of “Midway” for VIP guests.

THURSDAY, NOV. 7-SUNDAY, NOV. 10

  • Choice of seven different films at different schedules throughout the day (“Wings” featuring Clara Bow, “Charlie Wilson’s War” featuring Tom Hanks, “Sgt Stubby: An American Hero,” “A New Leash on Life: The K9S For Warriors Story,” Abbott and Costello’s “Buck Privates,” “The Deer Hunter” starring Robert De Niro and Christopher Walken, and “Last Man Club.”)
  • Speakers and presenters in the theater lobby.
Villagers for Veterans Founder and President Marie Bogdonoff says proceeds raised from the Military Film Fest will go toward the ‘Veterans in Need’ program, which helps those with both noticeable physical challenges and those with injuries undetected by the naked eye.

SUNDAY, NOV. 10

  • A special showing for VIP ticketholders of the soon-to-be-released film “The Bay House,” starring Sean Farris, James Callis, Barry Corbin, Kim Beuche and Lesley Ann Warren, and a reception at the Anglers Club, located above Red Sauce in Lake Sumter Landing, which will include heavy appetizers and an award presentation.
