Entertainers lend their talents to help Dollars For Scholars

Jim Zurak

A very special opportunity to share an evening of musical entertainment with three of The Villages most popular entertainment professionals occurred at The Savannah Center Saturday evening when Dawn and Ralph DiNome and the Flashback Band joined Clark Barrios and Johnny Wild and the Delights as performers in the Dollars For Scholars annual charity fundraiser. What followed was a night of musical entertainment that had an almost sold out audience constantly on their feet applauding in appreciation of the talent that was being shared by the three outstanding performance groups.

The true beneficiaries of the evening were the future scholarship recipients of our two Villages High Schools. This was the 10 year anniversary presentation of the Dollars for Scholars annual STARRY Musical Variety Production fundraiser which has helped raise over $470,000 Dollars and provided over 170 scholarships to students in our two local High Schools.

Dollars for Scholars would like to extend a highly deserved note of appreciation to Ralph and Dawn DiNome, Clark Barrios and Andy Matchett (aka Johnny Wild) and the entire audience whose continuing support over the past 10 years of all of the STARRY Musical Variety Programs has provided the funding that is being invested in what has the potential to be the creation of the future leaders of our great country.

The designation of The Villages being America’s friendliest hometown may be augmented by the addition of being America’s most generous hometown.

J.R. “Jim” Zurak is the executive producer of Dollars For Scholars Productions.
