A suspected shoe thief was arrested at Bealls.
Sumter County sheriff’s deputies were called Wednesday evening to the store on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 in Lady Lake after 26-year-old Kenneth Patrick Maxwell of Summerfield attempted to leave the store with two pairs of stolen shoes and a ring, according to an arrest report.
The store’s loss prevention officer saw Maxwell select the merchandise and watched him walk out of the store without paying for it. The merchandise was valued at $197.95.
Maxwell was arrested on a charge of theft and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. Bond was set at $2,000.
