Suspected shoplifter to answer in court after theft of pajamas at Target

A suspected shoplifter will have to answer in court after the alleged theft of pajamas at Target at Rolling Acres Plaza in The Villages.

Virginia Joyce Griffin, 23, of Belleview, entered the store Tuesday morning and was monitored on surveillance as she selected a pair of pajamas and put them in her shopping cart, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. Griffin also selected a blanket and put it in her shopping cart. She proceeded to a self-checkout lane where she failed to scan the items and then attempted to leave the store. The items had a value of $51.98.

She admitted to taking the items as well as previous thefts.

Griffin was issued a notice to appear Dec. 10 in Lake County Court. She was also banned from Target.
