Villagers’ homeless son arrested after refusing to leave residence

Gerald Reddy

The homeless son of a Villages couple was arrested on a trespassing charge after refusing to leave a residence in Florida’s Friendliest Hometown.

Gerald Clement Reddy, 56, showed up at a home Friday night and refused to leave, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Reddy, whose parents live in the Village of Ashland and said he was homeless and had “nowhere else to go,” was warned he would be arrested if he returned.

At about 7:30 p.m., Reddy returned to the residence and was taken into custody. A check revealed Reddy is on felony probation in Palm Beach County following a conviction earlier this year on his fourth drunk driving arrest. He was booked without bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.
