A Pearl Harbor Day ceremony will be held Friday, Dec. 7 at Veterans Memorial Park of The Villages.
The event begins at 10 a.m. and will commemorate the 78th anniversary of the attack on U.S. forces at the base in Hawaii. All veterans and their families, as well as the general public, are invited to attend.
Retired Army Col. Harry Lumpkin, of the Village of Hadley, will be the keynote speaker. Lumpkin served 26 years on active duty in the Vietnam War and through the Desert Storm conflicts.
Leo Brown will sing during the ceremony and Sounds of Scotland also will present music.
The Veterans Memorial Park, which is pet free, is located on Lake Mira Mar in Spanish Springs, between Paige Place and the golf cart bridge over U.S. Hwy. 27/441. Those attending are encouraged to bring chairs. The CERT medical team will be in place for any emergencies.
