To the Editor:
Dear Mr. Kaepernick:
I appreciate your frustration. Finding employment in one’s chosen profession can sometimes be difficult. You are not alone in this – it happens to thousands upon thousands of Americans. You get a university degree, say in English literature or American history, and then discover that those degrees really don’t guarantee you employment.
Perhaps you possess a certain skill only to find that all positions requiring that skill are currently being filled. It can be frustrating. But wait, there is a solution to your problem: find alternative employment. It’s simple: if you are unable to find a position in your chosen field, look for work elsewhere – countless people do that every day.
As a matter of fact, I believe there is one position that you would be ideally suited fort – law enforcement! Given your concerns about the professionalism of many of our countries police officers, becoming a police officer seems the ideal job for you. I recommend you check out the Chicago police force – they are always looking for recruits. No thanks required – glad to help – I wish you good luck in your new profession.
