To the Editor:

My home is four years old with a 30-year warranty on the roof. I noticed a leak about a month ago and contacted the warranty department. I was told by them that they had nothing to do with manufacturer warranties and I need to contact Certainteed who made the shingles. After speaking to Certainteed I followed their instructions on the paperwork and had a roofer come out and remove some shingles to send to Certainteed. Well, long story short, after three companies told me I need a new roof Certainteed offered $1,040 to re-glue the existing shingle. After contacting many roofing companies none would do that job, all of them telling me I need a new roof and if they did what Certainteed wanted it would last maybe five years.
Stuck between a rock and a hard place.
