A motorcyclist was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center after a crash in a roundabout in The Villages.
Patrick Henry O’Brien Jr., 41, of Leesburg, had been riding a 2005 Suzuki motorcycle at 2:50 p.m. Thursday in the roundabout on Morse Boulevard at Deskin Lane traveling north when he lost control of the motorcycle, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
The FHP investigator learned from a witness that O’Brien, who was not wearing a helmet, had been operating the motorcycle in a “reckless manner.”
O’Brien was knocked from the motorcycle when it hit a curb and he landed in a grassy median near the entrance to the Village of Osceola Hills.
O’Brien was transported to ORMC and was being treated in the Intensive Care Unit.
He was ticketed on a charge of careless driving.
