It wasn’t a real jury deciding President Trump’s fate

To the Editor:

Post-Impeachment observation: President Trump was acquitted of violating his oath of office to preserve, protect and defend the constitution. I would submit that 99 Senators violated THEIR oath of office to do the same.
This was not a trial by a randomly selected, mixed jury who were free to come to their own conclusions after objectively viewing evidence and testimony.
There were two separate and distinct groups of jurors representing two political parties engaged in a toxic political war.  Almost one-half of those jurors openly expressed hatred and contempt for the defendant, and extreme prejudice in pronouncing his guilt, well before the trial began. That group voted, as they were ordered to do by the party leaders, to find the president guilty.  The other group (save for one member) voted as they were ordered to do by their party leaders and even pronounced the defendant not guilty well before the trial began.  Both groups abrogated their responsibility to the Constitution and to the country they serve by voting based on vicious partisan politics  rather than the standard set by the founding fathers in providing impeachment as a solemn duty and responsibility which must  transcend all political considerations.
Sadly, they have set a dangerous precedent for the future when the out-of-power can impeach a president just because they see it as a way to topple him from office.
As far as I am concerned, both groups of these party-obedient blowbags violated their oaths and trashed the Constitution and should be kicked out of office.
