Sandra Hopps

Sandra Ann Hopps, 72, of The Villages, FL, passed away March 26, 2020.

Sandra was born in Berwyn, Illinois on July 6, 1947. Her parents were Dolores and  Ray Lynn.  She is survived by her husband Don Wesley Hopps, son Josh Raynor Hopps, son Douglas Parker Hopps deceased, step daughter Cynthia Michelle Leckey, Scott Leckey son in law, sister Nancy Braman, brother Thomas Gotowt his wife Lesley.

When Sandra was 3 years old, she was sent to California to live with Grandparents in Fontana, California where she was raised.  Her mother remarried and lived in San Bernardino, California.  Sandra went to San Bernardino High School and graduated in 1965.  She then attended Chaffey College in Fontana California, and graduated with an AA degree.

Sandra was married in September 1968 to Don and they moved to Northern California. In October 1970, their first son Josh was born.  In 1974, Douglas was born in Santa Clara, California.  By then, they had moved to the small town of Antioch where they lived for about 30 years in the same house.  Sandra loved teaching and worked as a Teacher’s Aide at Pittsburg Elementary School in Pittsburg, California for seven years.  She then decided to get her BA degree in Education and became a full-time kindergarten teacher at Oakley Elementary School, in Oakley, California.

Don became a Firefighter in 1973 and worked for Contra Costa Fire District and retired after 30 years of service.  After the passing of their youngest son Douglas, from cancer, they decided to move to The Villages, Florida, where they made a new home.

Sandra and Don had a wonderful life of 51 years together and enjoyed all the events that made their life a happy one.
