Lady Lake man airlifted after stabbed in back with stiletto knife

Jed Appleton

A Lady Lake man was airlifted Monday night after he was stabbed in the back with a stiletto knife.

The man received a phone call from his girlfriend asking him to come to 221 Morningside Drive, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

The man arrived at the address and got into a fight with 33-year-old Jed Appleton. He tried to walk away, but Appleton pulled a 2-3 inch stiletto-style knife and stabbed him in the back. The man suffered a one-inch wound to the center of his back, left of the spine. The man said he suffered numbness and pain down his back and into his right leg. He was airlifted to a trauma hospital, the report said.

Appleton denied being in a fight with the man, but police spotted blood on Appleton’s boots.

Appleton was arrested on a charge of aggravated battery. He was booked at the Lake County Jail on $10,000 bond.

Appleton had previously been arrested in 2015 on charges of burglary and grand theft.
