On Saturday, May 16, 2020, Sylvia Lorraine Shane, Villages Hacienda North, originally from Manchester Ct. peacefully passed away from her long battle with Lewy Body’s Dementia. She was previously employed and retired from Stuart News in Stuart Fl, where she was Executive Secretary to the Editor/President. Sylvia was a dedicated wife and mother of three children, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Sylvia was a Navy wife for 20 years, moving across country every couple years. Moving finally to the Villages in 1995 with her husband Raymond. Mom was always so organized, strong, fun, and determined. She raised her three children single handedly a majority of those years while dad was deployed. Mom had been suffering from Dementia and Alzheimer’s the past year and half. It was heartbreaking to watch this small but powerful feisty woman, slowly lose her battle to this disease. She will truly be remembered for her kindness to others and her love of dancing.
Sylvia was born on September 25, 1932 in Manchester Ct. She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond in 1999, whom she was married to for 45 years. She and Raymond retired to the Villages in 1994, where they both immediately became active in the community. Sylvia volunteered at the Recreation Department and the office of The Villages Lifelong Learning Center. She will most likely be remembered for her instruction of Line Dancing, Two-step and West Coast Swing classes for over 15 years.
Sylvia is survived by her three children, David Allen Shane, Bruce Raymond Shane, and Colleen Joan Shane, who all live in or around the Villages. She also is survived by her two grandchildren, Christopher Raymond Shane (wife Kayla and their son Landon Michael), granddaughter Brittany Michelle Marrs (husband Derek and their son Jacob Allen), all from North Carolina. Her many nieces and nephews from Manchester Ct, and Philadelphia Pa.
Planning funeral services during this Pandemic has created a few challenges. Considering these challenges, we will have a Celebration of her Life at a later time to remember Sylvia when it is again safe to travel and gather with her friends and family. A private funeral service and burial will be held at this time.
