Statistics show that the number of Coronavirus cases among juveniles in the tri-county area is extremely low.
As of Monday, just 32 children under 18 had tested positive for the potentially deadly virus. Those are just a fraction of the 1,064 cases that have been reported in the tri-county area.
So far, 16 minors in Lake County have tested positive, while 13 have been identified in Marion County and just three cases have been reported in Sumter County. A total of 1,056 juveniles have been tested in the tri-county area.
Across the state, there have been 3,407 positive results among the 37,211 minors who have been tested. That amounts to a positivity rate of 9.2 percent.
There have been no deaths among children in the Sunshine State and only 103 have been hospitalized. The breakdown by age is:
- Under 1 years old: 218 cases;
- 1-4 years old: 577 cases;
- 5-9 years old: 758 cases;
- 10-14 years old: 976 cases; and
- 15-17 years old: 878 cases.
