Alice Wright

Alice Elnora Wright (nee Harrington) passed peacefully on December 11, 2020. She was 90 years old. Alice was a loving person, with a perpetually happy aura and positive outlook throughout her long life.

Born August 13, 1930 at Jamaica Hospital in Queens, NY to George and Amy Harrington, Alice was the older of their two daughters. Her sister, Dorothy Feely of Jenkintown, PA, passed in 2019. George and Amy Harrington lived in Queens and Staten Island, NY before moving to St Petersburg, FL and then to Brooklyn, following her father’s service posts as a Commander at United States Merchant Marine Training Stations. Alice followed her father’s love of the outdoors and the ocean.

Immediately after their retirement in 2000, Alice and George Wright moved from Brooklyn to Polo Ridge in The Villages. They were so devoted to each other and enjoyed retirement life together. Alice and George were involved in many clubs and social activities.

George and Alice were avid golfers, playing many of the courses The Villages had to offer. Alice was one of the founding members of the Greens Queens. On March 6, 2011, at 80 ½ years young, Alice’s most memorable golf shot was a hole-in-one (Ace) on the first hole at Churchill Greens.

Alice is survived by her three loving children – James (Marlene) of Barnegat, NJ, William (Violeta) of Galveston, TX, and Nancy Ann Budinoff (James) of Wesley Chapel, FL. Alice was blessed with seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A life loved is a life well lived. Rest in peace, Alice.

Based on health concerns and restrictions, the family has decided to forego a memorial service at this time. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider making a donation in Alice’s name to Cornerstone Hospice in the Villages, FL https://cornerstonehospice.org.
