Miami bowler rolls 279 to capture Senior Shoot Out title at Fiesta Bowl

Julian Herradon

A Miami kegler won a hard-fought battle this past Saturday in the Senior Shoot Out event at Fiesta Bowl in The Villages.

Julian Herradon waged a tight fight with Clermont’s Doug Becker for the title. Both bowlers started out with nine straight strikes before Herradon tallied a nine-count spare and a strike in the 10th frame for a final score of 279. Becker picked up an 8-count spare in the 10th frame and followed that with a strike for a final score of 278.

Dennis Rakauskas, of Apopka, also was in the mix but three 9-count spares in the second, fourth and sixth frames held his score to 239 for third place.

All told, 65 bowlers competed in the event, with 15 of them being Super Seniors. Of those, seven made the natural cut of 625 which meant that one Super Senior was invited to continue on in the tournament.
