To the Editor:
U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio must take strong action to pass bill S1, “For The People Act” and “John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.” These laws will call for states to ensure the right to vote is protected for all Americans. Too many states are ready to enact drastic measures that will limit access for legitimate voters. This must be stopped!
More people are being shut out of the political process through racist voter suppression laws and barriers to participation. Now is the time for Congress to take bold action to build a democracy that is for the people with solutions that have already been tried and tested in states and municipalities across the country.
