A Summerfield woman found herself behind bars Monday after emerging from a camper to tangle with her man friend as he tried to collect his belongings.
The victim told Marion County sheriff’s deputies that 56-year-old Charity Ann Woodburn yelled at him, attacked him and ordered him and a man that was with him to leave the property. The victim claimed that Woodburn pushed him while they were outside and followed him when he entered a patio area on the property. He said she then started slapping him and scratched his neck and chest area, the report says.
The victim said after being battered he got into a truck with the other man, left the residence and called law enforcement for help. Deputies noted that the victim had red scratch marks on the left side of his neck, the report says.
An eyewitness provided a similar statement and showed deputies a video she took of the battery taking place. In the video, Woodburn is seen running out of the patio area in an aggressive manner and yelling at the victim before pushing him. They then disappeared behind the patio screen and Woodburn could be heard yelling and cursing at the victim, the report says.
After being read her rights, Woodburn claimed she only touched the victim when he approached her. She said she just “held her hands up” and never slapped or scratched him, the report says.
Woodburn was placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail, where she was charged with domestic battery. She was released early Tuesday morning on $500 bond and is due in court June 9 at 1 p.m., jail records show.
