A passenger was arrested after forcing a car off a worrisome stretch of County Road 462.
Jarvis Lamar Webster, 33, of Wildwood, was a passenger in a green 2006 Hyundai at about 1 p.m. Wednesday when he got into an argument with the woman driving the vehicle, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
He grabbed the steering wheel and told the woman, “Shut up bitch. I’ll kill both of us.”
The vehicle veered off the roadway, leaving a skid mark 137 feet long, the report said.
“Dirt and grass were present in the front driver side tire and rim,” the deputy wrote in the report.
The incident occurred near St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on a section of County Road 462 described as a growing concern by Wildwood Mayor Ed Wolf because of increased traffic and rapid development.
Webster was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault. He was booked without bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.
