The longtime budget director for The Villages District Government is leaving her post for a new job at the University of Florida.
Barbara Kays’ departure from the budget office will take place later this month.
Kays is widely admired among those in government for her detailed presentations and planning, particularly when it comes to long-term capital improvement. For more than a decade, she has overseen the preparation of numerous budgets, including all of the community development districts in The Villages, as well as the Amenity Authority Committee, the Project Wide Advisory Committee and others.
Her last day will be Jan. 21.
In addition, Finance Director Anne Hochsprung will be retiring from the District Office. She was named to her current post in 2018. Her retirement will be effective in March.
