
On November 6, 2023, at the age of 64, Randy James Kimball left this world peacefully after a battle with cancer. Randy was born on August 30, 1959 to James and Nancy (Hagans) Kimball of Columbus, Ohio. A devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, Randy touched the lives of many and always had a quick sense of humor bringing laughter to those around him.
Randy grew up in Columbus, Ohio and graduated from West High School in 1977. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Mount Vernon Nazarene University in 2004. On June 14, 2008 he married the love of his life, Shelley Byers. Randy and Shelley lived in Buckeye Lake, Ohio before moving to The Villages, Florida in 2020.
Randy retired in 2017 from The Boeing Company in Heath, Ohio. He had an eye for detail along with expertise in operating systems and excelled with working in Material, Program and Senior Management. Known for his problem solving skills, many of his coworkers frequently called upon Randy for assistance and out of the box suggestions for solutions. He established exceptional customer support relationships that resulted in customers specifically asking “What does Randy think”? Most would not make a decision without his opinion. He had a strong work ethic and an ability to recognize talent of those around him and when he did, he went out of his way to mentor and build the skill set of many who to this day attribute his guidance to their success.
Randy enjoyed many hobbies over the years including golf, darts, bowling and softball. He was president of the Hilliard Girls Softball Association and was a great influence and coach in many young girls lives in the Hilliard Softball Community. He spent hundreds of hours volunteering, building a new concession stand, teaching clinics for a sport he loved. In his years in The Villages, Randy learned how to play Pickleball which quickly became his favorite activity in his retirement. He joined leagues and competitive play where he made a large circle of friends who became a part of his daily life. He could often be found playing cards and games with the many friends he made throughout the community.
Randy found pleasure in traveling with Shelley and friends, including memorable vacations in places like Alaska, many western National Parks, Aruba and cruising the Caribbean over the past several years where many treasured memories and laughs were had. Of utmost joy was raising his two daughters, Kelly and Kasie, along with his stepdaughter, Rikki. Randy was so proud to be a grandfather and loved attending their ball games and spending every moment he could with them. He was a pillar of strength for his family and provided advice and guidance in times of need.
Randy is survived by his devoted wife, Shelley; his children Kelly (Johnny) Harvey of Plain City, OH, Kasie (Brent) Barrow of Ostrander, OH; stepdaughter Rikki (Mike) Letizia of Westerville, OH; stepsons Anthony Selby of Newark, OH and Adam Selby of Heath, OH; as well as his sister Mary (Jeff) Hohman. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren Maddox, Scarlett, and Nora Harvey, Atlas and Charlie Barrow, Jessica and Lucas Letizia, Hailey, Liley, and Colton Selby. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Nancy Kimball, and his sister, Anita DeCarlo.
Randy’s legacy of kindness, humor, and devotion to family and friends will remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. His memory will be cherished and honored by all who were touched by his remarkable life.
