Patricia Lichtenthal

Patricia Carol Gartner Lichtenthal, aged 88, peacefully passed away on December 31, 2024.

She was born on October 1, 1936, in Gowanda, New York.

Patricia is survived by her devoted husband, Donald Francis Lichtenthal, and is lovingly remembered by her 5 children: Joseph Lichtenthal, James Lichtenthal (wife Julia), Jay Lichtenthal (wife Kathleen), Susan Spencer (husband Jay), and Cheryl Lichtenthal-Hardy (husband Russell). She is also fondly remembered by her 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and 5 nieces and nephews. Patricia is survived by her sister, Camille Godwin (late husband Jack) (nee Gartner), and her brother-in-law, Monsignor James Lichtenthal. Patricia was pre-deceased by her sister, Suzanne Velzy (nee Gartner) and brother-in-law, Victor Lichtenthal.

She now joins them in eternal peace. Patricia’s journey in life was highlighted by her remarkable career as a nurse. She graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1957 and dedicated 41 years to the nursing profession. Her compassionate care touched the lives of many as she served as a staff and Labor & Delivery nurse for 18 years at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo, New York, TriCounty Hospital in Gowanda, New York, and Lakeshore Community Hospital in Irving, New York. She culminated her career as a Nursing Supervisor for 23 years at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo, New York. Patricia was also a charter member and volunteer with the Eden Emergency Squad in Eden, New York.

In 2002, Patricia and her husband relocated from Eden, New York to The Villages, Florida, where she continued to enrich her community. She was an active member of the Computer Club and an enthusiastic participant at the Mulberry Fitness Center. Patricia’s generous spirit extended beyond her professional and community involvement.

She was known for her caring heart, always creating personalized cards for every occasion and person, and providing home-baked cookies to support her local Fire Department, friends, and community. Her warmth and kindness were a source of comfort to her expansive circle of friends at The Villages, and she was always there for anyone in need. Patricia will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, compassion, and generosity will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.

A funeral service to honor Patricia’s life will be planned in the future to accommodate out-of-town attendees at St. Mark the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church. Patricia was a devout Catholic, and her faith was an integral part of her life.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Cornerstone Hospice House in The Villages, Florida in memory of Patricia.
