Deardre Smith Russ, 78, went to be with our Lord on Jan 5, 2025. A lifetime resident of Oxford, Florida.

Survived by her husband, Robert Russ, sons Brent Russ (Amy Jones Russ) and Brad Russ (Jennifer Wallace Russ). Four grandchildren that she adored: Alma Russ Hammett (Turner Hammett), Chloe Russ, Drew Russ, and Cameron Russ. She is survived by her brother, Roger Smith (Chris Nolan Smith).

Preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Lorene Smith.

Deardre graduated from Wildwood High School in 1964 and then went on to the University of Florida and got her master’s degree in education. Deardre taught school for 35 years in Sumter County. She was married to her high school sweetheart for 57 years.

Deardre enjoyed sewing, traveling to National Parks with her family, and spending time in her second home in Sylva, North Carolina. She was very involved in the lives of her grandchildren and will be deeply missed.

A celebration will be held at a later date.
