Evans went on Halloween to the Dollar General at 4500 NE 90th Plaza and loaded merchandise into a shopping cart, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. She left without paying for the merchandise and loaded the items into a silver van in the parking lot. A store employee was able to get the license plate number before Evans drove away.

The van was tracked down to a woman in Citrus County. She said she had loaned the van to Evans, who she only knew by the name “Nikki.” The van’s owner also had an address for Evans. A detective later found that Evans had previous theft convictions in 2020 and 2021 in Sumter County.
