Villagers with Yamaha golf carts continue to line up for service after a recall notice was issued by the company.

A long line of golf carts waited for service Tuesday morning at The Villages Golf Cars location at Lake Sumter Landing. A Villager in the line said she was told by a technician that 20,000 recall notices have been sent out.

The recall impacts 2016-2022 Yamaha golf carts. The accelerator pedal return springs are apparently faulty and require replacement.

Villagers earlier this month said they were impressed with how smooth and speedy the process was going. However, Tuesday morning, Villagers reported a two to three hour wait at The Villages Golf Cars at Lake Sumter Landing. Eight technicians were making the repairs in four tents, but they had trouble keeping up with the large volume of carts.

Letters have been sent to owners of golf carts sold through The Villages Golf Cars. The recall repairs began in February and are continuing this month at locations at Spanish Springs, Lake Sumter Landing, Brownwood and Magnolia Plaza.

If you are wondering if your golf cart is impacted, a special hot line has been set up at (352) 775-7875.
