President Trump will take part in a tele-town hall to bolster the political hopes of Randy Fine, a GOP candidate who may be in peril in a special election.
The state senator from Melbourne is running for the District 6 Congressional seat recently vacated by Mike Waltz, who is now serving as President Trump’s National Security Advisor. Fine is facing Josh Weil, an Orlando school teacher who has made appearances in The Villages, emphasizing the need to save Social Security.
District 6 includes parts of Lake County and Marion County.

President Trump will take part in a tele-town hall at 6:30 p.m. today (Thursday, March 27) in an effort to bolster Fine’s campaign. The number to call in at is (833) 380-0653.
Former Trump advisor Steven Bannon sounded the alarm about Fine’s campaign.
“We have a candidate that I don’t think is winning. That’s an issue,” Bannon said on his “War Room” show.

Bannon reminded his audience that, “Trump won that district by 30 points in November.”
Local turnout has been anemic in the District 6 special election. Early voting is currently taking place. The election is April 1.
In Lake County, a total of 8,230 votes have been cast. Mail-in ballots represent 4,034 of those votes. There are more than 80,000 voters in Lake County eligible to vote in the special election.
In Marion County, a total of 11,618 votes have been cast. Mail-in ballots represent 6,620 of those votes. There are more than 120,000 voters in Marion County eligible to vote in the special election.
Fine also suffered a setback this week when his bill to allow college students to carry guns on campus died in a state Senate committee.
