
Russell I Carlson, 94 of The Villages, Florida passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 20, 2025.
Russell was born in Worcester, MA to Ivan and Tynne (Lyra) Carlson on November 5, 1930. He graduated from Becker Junior College then entered the Navy and served four years on the USS Gyatt. He returned home to Worcester and worked in sales at Norton Company. It was there that he met the love of his life, Mary.
They were married October 7, 1961 and enjoyed 61 years together! Russ loved his beloved New England sports teams, playing golf and socializing with all his great friends in the Village’s SOSB group. He was particularly proud of his Swedish heritage and made multiple trips to visit family in Sweden over the years. He will always be remembered for his kind and gentle demeanor.Russell was proceeded in death by his parents and his wife Mary.
He is survived by his son Mark (Cheryl) Carlson of North Attleboro, MA, his daughter, Elizabeth (Robert) Raquet of The Villages, FL, four grandsons: Nick Raquet, Brandon Raquet, Mark Carlson and Evan Carlson.
A celebration of life will be held at Hiers-Baxley funeral home on Friday, April 4th at 10 a.m. Private burial at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell at a later date.
