A Villager has been arrested after repeatedly skip scanning at a local Walmart.
Mark Terlecky, 71, of the Village of Lake Deaton, was arrested this past week on seven counts of theft.
He repeatedly went to the Walmart at Sarasota Plaza and loaded up a shopping cart with merchandise, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. He went to the self-checkout and paid for the vasts majority of the items, but skip scanned a few items during his trips to the store.
Among the items he allegedly stole were:
• Oct. 14: A 14-ounce Italian Hero sub sandwich from the deli valued at $6.67 and a 16-ounce Great Value Picante Squad valued at $1.92
• Oct. 23: Coca-Cola Cherry soda pop valued at $6.86 and Equate Isopropyl alcohol valued at $2.98.
• Oct. 29: A 6.5-ounce Italian Hero sub sandwich from the deli valued at $4.77
• Nov. 5: A 16-ounce jar of Pace Mild Picante sauce valued at $2.82 and a six pack of toilet paper valued at $6.98.
• Nov. 13: A 6.5-ounce Italian Hero sub sandwich from the deli valued at $4.77 and a six pack of toilet paper valued at $6.98.
• Nov. 26: A 6.5-ounce Italian Hero sub sandwich from the deli valued at $4.77.
• Dec. 4: A 6.5-ounce Italian Hero sub sandwich from the deli valued at $4.77, Centrum Men’s Silver Vitamins, valued at $7.72 and a 15-ounce Chili (no beans) valued at $2.16.
He was taken into custody and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. He was released after posting $700 bond.
