In the 82 years that Harold lived, he was so many things to so many people. He was a son, a brother, a hero, a husband, a daddy, a granddaddy, great granddaddy, an uncle and a friend. Harold was a son of God and truly had a heart of gold, always looking out for others, lending a listening ear, or his arms for a hug.

Harold Grey Ham, 82, of Florida, passed away peacefully on April 19th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 16th, 1942, Harold dedicated his life to service, both in the military and in his community.

Harold proudly served in the Army for 23 years and then for Civil Service for a combined service of 35 years. He achieved the rank of E9 Command SGT Major. His military career took him to various parts of the world, including tours in Germany and Vietnam, Ft. Knox, KY and Ft. Dix NJ, where he earned numerous commendations for his bravery and leadership and outstanding awards. His commitment to his country was unwavering, and he was a source of inspiration to all who knew him.

Harold was preceded by his beloved Wife of 58 years, Monika (Berendt) Ham, his parents James Ham (Margie), Lucille Grimsley his sister Elizabeth Taylor, his Brother Robert Ham and his son in law Stanley Newgen.

He is survived by his children, Yvonne Newgen, and Michele Shellhamer (Craig); his grandchildren, Nicole Moore(Zac), Alex Holmes (Kim) and Mark Sermon, Great Grandsons Raylan, Graysan, Laythan , Damien, Max, Great Granddaughter Adalynn; and his Brother Jimmy Ham(Carol), Sisters Sandra Dale, Debbie Kennedy(Danny)And many Nieces, Nephews, as well as Great Nieces and Nephews whom he loved dearly. His legacy of service, love, and dedication will forever be cherished by his family and friends.

A funeral service to honor Harold’s life and service will be held on April 25th, 2025, at Beyers Funeral Home, 134 North US-27 S, Lady Lake, FL 32159 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Military honors will be presented at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell FL, 33513 on April 30th, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
