Villagers for Democracy will join in a protest on the May Day National Day of Action.

The event is set for 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the roundabout at the entrance to Lake Sumter Landing.

It is the same place where 2,000 protesters gathered on April 5 in the Hands Off rally, which was also part of a national event. Many were shocked at the size and enthusiasm of the Hands Off crowd in The Villages, which has long been a GOP stronghold and an enthusiastic base of support for President Trump.

Villager Casey Marr, one of the organizers of the event, said those attending Thursday’s rally are asked to bring to bring non-perishable food, bedding, towels or laundry detergent to stock a donation truck for the Leesburg charity, Forward Paths.
