A suspect has been arrested in the theft of a Stonecrester’s golf cart at Walmart.
The 89-year-old woman’s black 2012 Club Car golf cart was stolen April 20 from the Walmart at Summerfield, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. The woman’s son had driven the golf cart to Walmart and when he came out, it was gone.
The golf cart was recovered April 22 at a home in Summerfield. The homeowner said he paid $800 for the golf cart. He provided information that led to the arrest of a suspect, 40-year-old Shannon Michael Mason, who is homeless.

When Mason was initially interviewed by deputies, he attempted to lie about his identity. The West Virginia native, who has had previous arrests for burglary and vehicle theft, was taken into custody and booked at the Marion County Jail.
