Bennie Harsanyi

Dr. Bennie Harsanyi, 77, of The Villages, FL, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025. She was the daughter of Edwina and Benjamin Jordan of Texas.

She attended the Texas Women’s Teaching University, earning her bachelor’s in nursing. From there she would earn her master’s degree in psychiatric mental health nursing, and in 1988 she earned her doctorate. It was then that she would begin her life’s passion of researching and teaching in the field of nursing informatics. She became a pioneer of sorts in this field and eventually co-authored an internationally renowned book on this subject.

Her work then took her to Pittsburgh, PA, and this is when she met the love of her life, Jim McClure. They shared 25 years of what can only be described as a fairy tale marriage. They enjoyed traveling , golfing, and making memories with family and wonderful friends.

In 2009, after retiring, they relocated to The Villages, FL, to continue all of the great things their life brought their way. Bennie’s life will always be remembered as one that was lived with kindness, compassion, and unwavering love for her family and friends, old and new.

Bennie was very involved in her book club, golfing, and the Women’s Doctors Club. She truly enjoyed the life she and my father built together.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim McClure; her parents, Edwina and Benjamin Jordan; her brother, James; and her stepdaughter, Jennifer McClure. Bennie is survived by her loving sister, Karen Holt; her nephew, Ryan Holt (Courtney); her niece, Ashley Patterson (Clay); her stepdaughter, Colleen (Troy); four grandchildren, Kiley Mister (Chuck), J.T. Pritts (Meredith), Logan Pritts, and Aaron Pritts; two great-nephews, Brandon Holt and Austin Holt; and two great-grandchildren, Eli Pritts and Boone Mister. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you share a memory of Bennie, make a book donation to your local library, or simply show kindness to a stranger. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
