A Summerfield teenager is in hot water after an alleged call to 911 in which he reported a bogus road rage allegation.

Bryce Thompson, 19, is facing charges of hit and run, misuse of 911 and knowingly reporting false information about an alleged crime, following his arrest this past week by Marion County sheriff’s deputies.

Thompson’s ex-girlfriend reported that she had been driving Feb. 13 near the Winn-Dixie on U.S. Hwy. 441 in Belleview when Thompson deliberately used his blue 2009 Chevy Trailblazer to strike her car, according to an arrest report. He fled the scene.

While the 18-year-old ex-girlfriend’s accident was being investigated, Thompson called 911 from another location and claimed he’d been the victim of a road rage attack. He claimed a woman used a metal club to smash his passenger-side mirror. He said he and the fictitious woman had been involved in a dispute while driving the previous day on U.S. 301 at Dallas. Thompson said the woman, still angry from the previous day’s incident, spotted him and damaged his Trailblazer.

During an investigation, footage was found which corroborated the ex-girlfriend’s version of events and proved that Thompson had lied to the 911 dispatcher and to the deputy investigating his claim.  A warrant was issued for his arrest.

After he was taken into custody, Thompson was booked at the Marion County Jail and released after posting $3,000 bond.

Earlier this year, Thompson was arrested after allegedly stealing Lego sets and other merchandise from Walmart in Summerfield.
