Cynthia Eleanor McGuire, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2025 in The Villages, Florida. She was 76 years old, and succumbed from complications of Parkinson’s disease, which she suffered from for more than a few years.

Cindy was born on November 18, 1948 to her parents “Bud” and Ruth Holter (Mencer) in Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania. She grew up with a strong sense of integrity and joyful spirit that remained throughout her life.

The young Holter family lived in Jersey Shore for several years before moving to York, PA in 1954. Cindy attended elementary schools in the City of York until her family moved out of the city where she attended York Suburban High School until her graduation from the business program in 1966.

After high school, she moved to the Washington, DC area where she worked in government service for many years before moving to work in the construction industry for a commercial development firm and a title company. But while her working life provided her with its rewards, Cindy’s real interest was her commitment to her family.

She is survived by her husband of over 40 years, Bill McGuire, two sons and their spouses: Joseph McGuire and spouse Jennifer McGuire (Hawkins) of Madison, Virginia, and Tom McGuire and spouse Lindsay McGuire (Fisher) of North Port, Florida, two grandchildren Dylan and Damian McGuire, and a brother Allen Holter and his wife Sue, also of The Villages, FL. There are two surviving nieces/nephews: Brian Holter of Los Angeles, California and Kelly Holter of Lake Balboa, California.

Raising her boys with husband Bill was one of the true passions of her life as was her home which became the home for many pets of all kinds – exhibiting Cindy’s love of animals. While Cindy had several homes in Northern Virginia, she and Bill were happiest when they moved west of the city to what was then the more rural area of New Baltimore. Still, Cindy loved visits back to the home of her youth in Jersey Shore with memories of family and swimming in Pine Creek.

Known for her fun-loving nature and unwavering moral compass, Cindy could always be counted on to do the right thing for others – as long as they supported the Redskins. Her presence brought warmth and laughter to those around her. She was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church in Warrenton, Virginia where she was a member of the choir.

Cindy’s wishes do not include a celebration of life ceremony. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that any memorial contributions be made in her name to one of Cindy’s favorite charities: Humane Society of Sumter County (994 CR 529A Lake Panasoffkee, FL). Or The Michael J Fox Foundation, For Parkinson’s Research

May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
