Kenneth Dale Moore, Chief Warrant Officer 4, United States Navy (Retired), passed away peacefully at home on June 1, 2025, at the age of 78.
Born on September 20, 1946, in McHenry, Kentucky, Kenny lived a life marked by service, strength, joy, and deep love for family. Kenny proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 30 years, 4 months, and 1 day retiring on February 3, 2002, as a Chief Warrant Officer 4. As an Aircraft Material Control and Allocation Officer and Officer in Charge of Aviation Units and Detachments, he played a vital role in Navy aviation readiness and mission success across the globe, including assignments in Illinois, Florida, Virginia, and Sicily.
His exceptional career was recognized with numerous commendations, including the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal, Navy Unit and Meritorious Unit Commendations, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, NATO Medal, Vietnam Campaign and Service Medals, Kosovo Campaign Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary and Service Medals, and many more – a testament to his leadership, skill, and steadfast dedication. Beyond his military service, Kenny was a man of many passions and great warmth.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Katharine (Kathy) Moore, and their children: Billy (Kathy) Moore, Shelley (Aaron) Chas, Tommy (Brie) Moore, and Kerry (Vince) Ricketts. He was a proud grandfather to 15 grandchildren – Pamela (Josh), Kristen, Jake (Samantha), Hunter (Chelsea), Genny, Brett, Shaena, Ashlynn, Hannah, Isabelle, McKenzie, Josh, Vanessa, Silas, and Joey – and a loving great-grandfather to Kaylee, McKenzie, Kesson, Alec, and Temperance. He is also survived by his siblings, Bud (Becky) Moore and Carol Hoke.
He was preceded in death by parents Ray and Helen Moore, sisters Jean Ash, Judy Schneider, and Joy Lamb, and brother Oscar Moore.
Additionally, Kenny is remembered by countless extended family and friends whose lives he touched. Kenny’s joys in life were many: he had a flair for cake decorating, especially his cheeky “grown-up cakes,” and brought smiles with his festive spirit, especially during Christmas. He found delight in date nights at the Opry, cheered on the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Florida Gators (sorry little girl), and above all, was a lifelong lover of Mickey Mouse, who held a special place in his heart. Whether on the golf course celebrating his hole-in-one, laughing with friends, or simply spending time with family, Kenny lived life with enthusiasm, generosity, and humor.
Kenny’s legacy is one of unwavering service, abundant love, and joyful living – a life beautifully and fully lived. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to cancer research in Kenny’s memory, to honor his life and help others facing the same battle.
