Marie T. Messina, 79, of Summerfield, Fl passed away peacefully at her home with her life partner Barbara and dear friend Judy Williams by her side on June 6, 2025.
Marie was born on September 11, 1945 to the late Jack and Theresa (DiMicco) Bernardino in Syracuse, NY. She was a graduate from Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital Nursing School, Syracuse , NY where she worked in special care units for several years. She also assisted Dr. Leslie Woodcock, Sr, MD, ophthalmologist, surgery center, Syracuse, NY for 10 years.
Marie and Barbara moved to The Villages, Fl in 1994, to be closer to Barbara’s Parents. Marie continued her career in Eye Care where she assisted at Mid FL Eye Center Surgery Center, Summerfield, FL she retired after 20 yrs of service. Marie enjoyed golfing, recumbent trike cycling. Her hobbies were working with mosaics and gardening. Marie and Barb were involved with Greyhound Adoptions of Fl and had adopted 4 greyhounds over a 20 yr period. Marie and Barb’s greatest enjoyment was Cruising with friends, one in particular was to Italy.
She was predeceased by her parents and her sisters; Angie Tooley, Rose Bonner, Vicki Angotti, and Lydia Bernardino, brothers; Joe Bernardino and Louis Bernardino.
Marie is survived by her Life Partner Barbara Nesbitt of 45 yrs, Loving Toy Poodle Darby, several nieces and nephews, and Many Loving and Caring Friends.
