Jerry Alton Galvin, age 79, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2025 at his home in Lake Panasoffkee, FL after a lengthy illness.

Jerry was born in Sarasota, FL on June 18, 1945 to Clarence Edward Galvin, Sr. and Josephine Davis Galvin. After high school, Jerry served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. After serving his country, Jerry began his career as a highly skilled welder. He was a boilermaker and a proud union member. Since his childhood growing up on the beaches and in the wooded areas around Englewood, FL, Jerry loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He and his brothers were known to often have wild animals as pets or to rehabilitate and release back into the wild. He was an honorary lifetime member of the Berrien County, GA Hunting Club.

In addition to his parents, Jerry is proceeded in death by his sister, Ellen Galvin George, and two of his brothers, Clarence Edward Galvin, Jr. and John Frances Galvin. He is survived by his partner of 50 years, Ruby V. Bennett, Lake Panasoffkee, FL, his brother Dale Alling Galvin, Englewood, FL, and his brother-in-law, Donald Atkinson George, Bushnell, FL.

Jerry is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews who will dearly miss their “Uncle Jerry’s” witty quips, practical jokes, wise advice, strong bear hugs, and hunting, fishing, and boating trips.

There will be no public service. Jerry’s arrangements are in the care of Purcell Chapel, Beyers Funeral Home and Crematory, 114 W. Noble Ave., Bushnell, FL. His family appreciates everyone’s thoughts, prayers, and condolences.
