A Lake Butler man was arrested at the Okahumpka Service Plaza for a 2013 warrant out of Marion County for failure to appear.

An officer spotted a red Jeep Compass parked just east of the gas pumps at the Okahumpka Service Plaza, located at 299 SR 91, at 6 p.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. A check revealed that the registered owner, 35-year-old Pedro Hernandez-Flores, had an active warrant out of Marion County for failure to appear (change of plea for no valid driver’s license) in 2013.

As the officer confirmed the warrant was still active, the vehicle started driving around the service plaza. He initiated a traffic stop at Mile Marker 299, and the vehicle stopped at one of the gas pumps. He then approached the driver’s side of the vehicle and spoke with Hernandez-Flores, the report said.

The officer asked if he was the registered owner, and Hernandez-Flores stated he was. After verifying that he matched his driver’s license photo, he was placed in handcuffs.

Hernandez-Flores was ultimately transported to the Sumter County Detention Center where a hold was placed on him by Marion County.
