A Villager testified Monday in a deed compliance hearing that his nitpicking neighbor is making his life miserable.
Earl Bartell was called before a special master at the District Office at Brownwood in a deed compliance case involving his home at 2530 Hubbs St. in the Spartina Villas in the Village of Fenney.

A complaint had been received April 14 regarding weeds at Bartell’s villa touching his neighbor’s home.
“I have a neighbor that complains about everything. He’s not a nice neighbor,” Bartell told Special Master Terry Neal, a retired Lake County judge who hears numerous deed compliance cases in The Villages.

Bartell, who purchased the villa in 2022 for $310,000, said his neighbor had previously complained about a solar light and a car repair he had done at his home.
The special master gave Bartell seven days to remove the weeds to the satisfaction of Community Standards.
However, Bartell said his neighbor will never be satisfied.
“He will find something else to complain about,” Bartell said
