A Parker at East Village resident was arrested for battery after allegedly whipping a woman with a dog leash during an argument.

Upon arrival, the deputy spoke with the victim who stated Leighton hit her with a dog leash, tied the leash around her wrist and poured water on her. She also threw a garbage can while the victim was sitting in a chair. She explained that this all stemmed from a verbal argument they were having, the report said.

While she was on the phone, Leighton called the victim by a derogatory name. She then poured water on the victim and whipped her with the leash on the right arm and shoulder. She also tied the leash around her right wrist, causing an injury, the report said.

The deputy observed redness on her right shoulder and right wrist, corroborating her statement. She was also wet and looked like water was poured on her, the report said.

Leighton was arrested and charged with battery. The New Hampshire native was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center with bond set at $500.
