
On July 22, 2025, Charles Glad, 92, passed away peacefully at Select Specialty Hospital – The Villages, surrounded by his loving family.
A proud U.S. Navy veteran, he served his country with honor and continued that service throughout his life by volunteering at the American Legion and the Villages VA Clinic. He also gave faithfully to his church community, serving for many years as an usher.
Born in Aliquippa, PA, he was the son of Martin and Johanna Glad. He served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Charles H Roan as a Fire Control Technician. After his military service, he had a successful career as an electrical engineer, specializing in industrial vacuum furnaces. As he traveled the world with his military career, his profession also took him to many overseas locations.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Frances ‘Joya’ Glad and survived by his sons Joseph Glad (Judy), Robert Glad (Brianne), and his daughter Donna Marie Nicoll (David), his grandchildren Christa Rudder (Brent), Carly Garza (Eddie), Braden, Jared, Arden, Callen, Alee Conway (Austin), Lily Davis, David Davis, great grandchildren, Carsyn, Adelena, Ryan, Olivia, Ella, Emma, Warren, Walker and Harper.
He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. He had wits, great stories and a smiling personality.
Internment will take place at the Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, FL at 1:00 pm on Monday, July 28, 2025. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at the American Legion Post 347, 699 W Lady Lake Blvd., Lady Lake, FL.
