A Summerfield woman was arrested after a mail carrier helped identity her as the person who punched a man and sped off on a four-wheeler.

A deputy responded to a physical altercation at 3555 SE 147th Lane, Summerfield, around 2 p.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. Upon arrival, the male victim advised he had just been battered by 36-year-old Jessica Joanne Labazzetta and a juvenile on a four-wheeler.

The victim explained there were juveniles driving in front of his residence on four-wheelers with their phone out taking pictures or videos. His younger daughter had a history at their school with a female juvenile on one of the four-wheelers. He was not happy about them riding in front of his home, the report said.

After they left the area, Labazzetta and presumably her daughter came back on a four-wheeler with an adult male on a second four-wheeler. The victim was standing in his yard next to the road when Labazzetta stopped in front of him, leading to a verbal altercation. She then got off the four-wheeler and hit him on the left side of his head, the report said.

The victim’s daughter stated she was inside their residence when she heard the verbal commotion outside. When she stepped out, she saw Labazzetta hit her father in the face, the report said.

The deputy next spoke to the victim’s neighbor who advised that she was outside when the subjects were riding their four-wheelers on the road. She was standing at the front of her house when Labazzetta came on her four-wheeler. The victim was on his property when she saw Labazzetta hit him, the report said.

The neighbor also had security footage that showed a man on four-wheeler and Labazzetta on another one with a female riding on the backseat. It did not capture the battery due to the framing of the cameras, but it did catch Labazzetta driving away down Southeast 147th Lane. The neighbor, the victim and his daughter were all outside still with the neighbor’s husband near the four-wheeler, the report said.

Additionally, a U.S. Postal Service delivery employee saw the incident and advised that he saw Labazzetta get off the four-wheeler to punch the victim in the face. It appeared the victim was yelling or pointing, but the employee did not hear what was said. From his knowledge of working in the area, he gave Labazzetta’s address of 2997 SE 146th Lane, the report said.

The deputy tried to find her there but was unsuccessful. A parked vehicle sat in the driveway, and its tag showed it was registered to her. This was used to identify Labazzetta as the suspect, the report said.

On Sunday, the deputy returned to the address to speak with Labazzetta. He first met with her husband who confirmed his children were outside riding four-wheelers around the time of the incident, the report said.

Labazzetta denied riding a four-wheeler when the incident happened. However, she and her husband advised that the victim first confronted their 14-year-old daughter in the road about riding the four-wheeler, leading the husband to ride over. They held that there was no physical altercation, and Labazzetta did not go to the victim’s residence, the report said.

Based on the statements given, information from eyewitnesses, security footage and confirmation from the husband that something happened, Labazzetta was placed under arrest, the report said.

She was charged with battery and transported to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. She was released after posting $500 bond.
