Mary Kathleen Ann Farrell Dauscher, a beloved wife, mother, teacher, and joyful spirit passed away in The Villages, FL on July 24, 2025 at the age of 80. With a heart full of stories and a soul moved by rhythm, Kathleen dedicated her life to igniting the imaginations of others.
Born on May 7, 1945 in Carbondale, PA, Kathleen was the daughter of James and Catherine (Gillen) Farrell. After graduating from St Rose High School, Kathleen attended both Misericordia and Marywood Universities for her undergraduate studies, and later earned her Master’s degree from Lehigh University.
Kathleen was a traveler at heart. After marrying her husband Timothy in 1970, they began their lifelong adventures together with a roadtrip across the United States, a move to Hawaii, and volunteer work with the Peace Corps in Micronesia. Later in life, they enjoyed numerous trips to Europe, with Spain becoming one of their favorite destinations. Together they explored the world, chasing sunsets and collecting memories, with Kathleen sharing her joy with everyone she met.
A lifelong writer and lover of books, especially the whimsical worlds of magical realism, Kathleen believed that wonder could be found in the everyday, and magic was often just a page or conversation away. Kathleen taught elementary school in the Salisbury Township School District for 35 years and in her classroom, she nurtured creativity, encouraged curiosity, and inspired countless students to find their own voice. Her students were lucky to have not just a teacher, but a sincere believer in their potential. Kathleen made learning feel like an adventure, and gave her students permission to dream.
Outside the classroom, Kathleen danced through life and one of her greatest gifts was her ability to connect with others and turn strangers into friends. Whether through a kind word, a shared laugh, or a spontaneous dance, she made those around her feel seen, understood, and uplifted. Kathleen was joy in motion, and the world is brighter for having known her.
Kathleen is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years Timothy and their cherished daughter Erin, her adored brother Thomas Farrell and his wife Ann, her three nephews, and her sister-in-law Lynne Sweden.
A private memorial will be held by Kathleen’s family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in her honor.
