A Belleview man was arrested for battery after admitting to pushing his son during an argument sparked by dirty dishes.
A deputy responded to a verbal disturbance at an undisclosed Marion County residence around 7:50 p.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. The son of 54-year-old James David Vidican advised that his father became verbal with him over dishes.

Vidican continued to yell at him for not doing the dishes, so his son told him he was done and went to his bedroom. He prevented his son from closing the door and continued being verbal. He then pushed his son onto his bed before eventually separating himself, the report said.
The deputy spoke to Vidican about the incident, but he initially stated nothing happened physically, the report said. He explained the same story of arguing with his son over not doing the dishes and following him to his bedroom. He told his son, “It’s not done until I say it’s done.”
Vidican also admitted to pushing his son’s door open to continue the argument. When asked if he pushed him, he said he did because his son was not doing what he told him to do. He demonstrated to the deputy how he pushed him by motioning with one hand, saying his son possibly fell on the bed, the report said.
Vidican was arrested and charged with battery. He was transported to Marion County Jail to be held without bond.
