U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has placed a hold on a Venezuelan who has been living illegally for the past three years in Wildwood.

A deputy observed 61-year-old William Gilberto Lizardo in a red Toyota Corolla traveling east on State Road 44 in Wildwood around 10:25 a.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. A check of the registration revealed it expired on March 27.

The deputy subsequently stopped the vehicle at the intersection with Industrial Drive and asked Lizardo for his license. He advised that he did not have one. He is from Venezuela, is not a United States citizen and had been living in Wildwood for three years, the report said.

Lizardo added he had never been issued a driver’s license. He tried to get one in Venezuela in the past but did not pass the test. Indeed, a record check confirmed there was no evidence of a license ever being issued to him, the report said.

The native of Venezuela was arrested on charge of operate motor vehicle without valid license. He was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center where bond was set at $500 and ICE placed a hold on him.
